How Bookstores Keep Me Hooked in a Digital Reading World

I love e-reading…

Don’t get me wrong; I’m a devoted e-reader enthusiast, and one of my best investments this year has been an e-reader device.

Here is what I like the most about it :

  • it is very transportable as opposed to books
  • I can read in the dark and not bother anyone in my household
  • The reading experience is consistent (font, size etc), which makes it easy to adapt to a new book. I usually read better if the font size is a bit larger, so it is perfect
  • I don’t get hooked by 20% of the books I buy: A few times before buying my e-reader, I left for a short trip with one backpack and only one book. I was planning to complete that book during my flights, however, 50 pages in, I just wasn’t hooked. My trip was very busy and I had no time to buy another book. This is never a problem with e-books
  • I stopped buying physical books, so it saves space and money (though not necessarily since I usually try to get used books)
  • I can highlight sentences and take notes.

I also spend most of my driving and dog-walking time listening to audiobooks, and get so much more reading time than with a regular book alone. This also allows me to associate…
